About "The Big Knit"

The Perthshire Amber Big Knit is a hand's on way of raising funds for one of our selected charities. Festival-goers and knitters from afar contribute their time and energy to create a knitted blanket and other special articles that are auctioned, raffled or sold to help show our support in a unique, creative and involving way. Valued sponsors of this initiative since it began have been Artesano and Brittany.

Dougie MacLean's mother Dolly was the Big Knit's first co-ordinator (2007 - 2010) and continues to help with the knitting and overseeing of the Big Knit Team that has gradually evolved.

This coming year (2016) we are once again still deciding whether to auction or raffle the Big Knit grand prize - or find some other way of raising funds while finding just the right home for the wonderful Big Knit Blanket and Cushions lovingly made from last year’s knitted squares. Once the blanket is ready we’ll announce this year’s plan. So watch this space!

We’re so pleased to be helping The Cyrenians in an even bigger way this year. Thank you to everyone who knits and buys hats and raffle tickets. We couldn’t do it without you!
