'....leading the 'New Wave' of traditional Scottish fiddlers, virtuoso Ryan Young' - BBC World on 3 (August 2017)'
Let's use Ryan's own words for more info!...
"It's been an exciting time for me recently. I have recorded my debut fiddle album with Jesse Lewis, a triple Grammy winning producer who has worked with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma and Bela Fleck. It was released at Feakle Festival in August 2017 accompanied by renowned guitarist, Dennis Cahill.
I was a finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young traditional musician of the year in both 2015 and 2016 and was awarded Up and Coming artist Of The Year at the 2016 MG ALBA Trad Music Awards. My album was nominated for album of the year at the Scots Trad Awards and I was recently nominated for the Horizon award at the 2018 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards as well as being announced as Folking.com's musician of the year for 2018 (in which almost 17,000 votes were cast for the awards).
Some highlights last year included being accompanied by Dennis Cahill from The Gloaming at Feakle Festival; and opening for his long time musical partner, Martin Hayes at Celtic Connections 2017 to a sell out audience in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall, as well as having my album cover considered for a GRAMMY nomination. I appeared at Celtic Connections 2018, this time in my own show, and again to a sold out audience.
My influences include Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, LAU, The Gloaming and Sam Amidon".
