"One of my favourite people on the planet!"… Dougie MacLean.
Gordon Maclean is at present Creative Director of Music & Literature at the An Tobar Arts Centre on the Isle of Mull.
Gordon is a talented bass player and has always been involved in music including a spell in legendary Edinburgh folk band Jock Tamson's Bairns. After moving back to Mull in the late 70s he worked on fishing boats for years followed by a decade working on the roads across Argyll, often driving a vintage road roller.
Gordon built a log house on the Ross of Mull where his two children grew up and started working at An Tobar in the late 90s. He's still doing the day job and outside of that he enjoys playing in bands with Dougie MacLean, King Creosote, Roddy Woomble and Iain Morrison. Gordon was recently promoted to Grandad!
Gordon has been involved with our Perthshire Amber festival since the very early days as a valued member of the organising team, looking after the sound for both the Open Mic and Cabaret Amber and performing on many occasions at various venues … as part of the Sorren Maclean Band, The MacLean Project and as part of many Dougie with Friends line-ups and Farewell 'Bashes!
