Perthshire Amber’s 10th Anniversary!
Our 10th Anniversary Festival was the best yet!
Once again we loved all the venues and artists and concerts ... though I must say the absolute highlight for all the team was the performance by Dougie with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in Perth Concert Hall. What a night that was!! The addition of our European launch of "Wayfaring Strangers", the wonderful book by Fiona Ritchie and Douglas Orr was also a great success. The musicians from near and far were truly wonderful…from Rachel Sermanni, Emily Smith, the Mischa Macpherson Trio, Tom Spiers, The Old Dance School (ENG), Eddi Reader, Eliza Lynn (USA), Buddy MacDonald (CAN), Bruce McGregor, the Paperboys (CAN), Sorren Maclean & Hannah Fisher, Martin Carthy, Willie Campbell to all the Cabaret Amber performers and all those who joined in on the three afternoons of Open Mic.
The Decorated Wheelbaarrow Procession, the Heritage Afternoon in Stanley Hill, the Archaeology and Photographic Walks, all the instrument and song workshops, the Handbell Ringers and the new Chocolate Making demonstration … somehow the whole programme gelled, the groups were full and the workshop leaders amazing.
We are all really proud of the festival's techie team for the sound, lighting and filming … the Live Stream reached so many different countries with larger numbers subscribed than ever before.
More than anything though we were all proud of Dougie!… performing in concert on 10 consecutive days…with each performance fresh and exciting and still with a voice for the Farewell Bash! Festival-goers particularly loved the fact that there was a 'Dougie Fiddle Concert' one afternoon and that he played fiddle at both the big concerts in Perth Concert Hall!
